October 22, 2009
U.A. Local 324 Top Plumbing Apprentice - Alasdair Reid
U.A. Local 324, Island MIRA and Camosun College Pipe Trades Department acknowledge the achievements and congratulate the Vancouver Island Team of apprentices who excelled at the Western Canadian Pipe Trades Competition held in Vancouver B.C. in April 2009.
All three apprentices placed in the top 3, with Alasdair Reid taking Gold in Plumbing, Darren Burt; Silver in Steamfitting and Gabriel Cole took home the bronze in Sprinklerfitting.
After winning the Gold at the Western Competition, Alasdair went on to compete at the Nationals held in Vancouver in May 2009. Once again Alasdair claimed top spot and not only defeated the 2008 Skills Canada Champion from Ontario, but earned the honor to represent U.A. Local 324 and all of Canada at the North American Competition held in Ann Arbour Michigan in August 2009
The North American Competition was a tough competition. Unfortunately Alasdair did not place at this competition but we are still very proud to congratulate Alasdair for all his hard work and for the professional manner in which he represented U.A. Local 324 and Canada.
